DescriptionThe Deed of Defeazance of the Bank and their trustees to the Wardens etc of the Grocers' Company, if the latter pay on 24 December 1705 the full sum of £5000, with a covenant that 'until some default shall be made in payment' of that sum or part of it, the Bank with Michael Godfrey, Sir Henry Furness, Sir William Scawen and John Lordell shall permit the said Wardens to hold and enjoy the aforesaid Manors, lands etc, in Ireland, Wales and Cornwall etc (the said messuage, Grocers' Hall alone excepted) which is to be held for a term of 11 years by the Governor etc of the Bank of England). Five seals missing.
