- Letter from Sir John Anderson, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to the Governor Thomas Catto, 13 May 1945, expressing appreciation of the services provided by the British banking community during the war; letters from the Governor to the British Bankers Association (BBA), the Accepting Houses Committee (AHC) and the London Discount Houses Committee, relaying the message from the Chancellor, and other associated correspondence. Also includes letter from Hugh Dalton, Chancellor of the Exchequer, successor to John Anderson, to the Governor Catto, renewing his appreciation of the efforts of the British Banking Community during the war, in particular following the conclusion of the conflict against Japan, 30 Aug 1945, and associated correspondence. Includes newspaper article entitled 'Banks and the War Effort', published on 'The Times' on 9 Jun 1945.

- Letter from Sir John Anderson, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to the Governor Thomas Catto, 13 May 1945, expressing appreciation of the work of the Bank of England during the war, and communication of this message to staff at the Bank; letter from Hugh Dalton, Chancellor of the Exchequer, successor to John Anderson, to the Governor Catto, renewing his appreciation for the work of the Bank during the war following the victory over Japan, and communication of this additional message to staff at the Bank.

- Letter from the Governor Catto to General Eisenhower, 20 Jul 1945, expressing thanks for Eisenhower's letter of 17 Jul, on the subject of the Bank's handling of currency for use in operations on the Continent. The letter from General Eisenhower of 17 Jul appears to be missing.

- Letter from Hugh Dalton, Chancellor of the Exchequer, to the Governor Catto, 14 Jul 1947, thanking the Governor for the work done by the Bank in connection with Transferable Accounts, completed on 15 Jul, and associated letters.

- Letter from Edward Bridges, Permanent Secretary of HM Treasury, to the Governor Catto, 22 Aug 1947. Encloses copy of the minute from the Lord President, conveying on behalf of the Prime Minister the appreciation of the Goverment for the Bank's work in connection with suspending the convertibility of sterling. Also includes a number of messages from the Governor to employees of the Bank, thanking them for their work in connection with techincal cables, however it is not clear whether this is related to the convertibility of sterling or not.

- Letter from General Smuts to Governor Norman, 10 Dec 1920, conveying thanks for the help in the selection of Mr Clegg as first Governor of the South African Reserve Bank.

- Letter from Stanley Baldwin, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, to the Governor [Walter Cunliffe], 4 Apr 1918, on the subject of the war tax paid by the Reichsbank.
