DescriptionA bound volume of miscellaneous items gathered by the Museum. There is no clear reason why these items have been brought together, however, it has been decided that they should now remain as so, and are presented below in a single catalogue description:

1. A sales catalogue of glass plate images of locations from around England and overseas. Described as: perspective views, coloured for the shew glass, or diagonal mirror. The catalogue was published by R H Laurie, 53 Fleet Street, London (1824).
2. Statistical summary of the work of the Dividend Office during 1920, including, 5 million Dividend warrants prepared and posted (c.1920).
3. Printed notice issued by the London Bank of Industry, 8 Margaret Street, London concerning currency and Exchange (1845).
4. Manuscript list of fees on payments into the Exchequer (c.19 century).
5. Spoof 'transcript' of 'humourous conversation' between Mr Hambro Drage and Mr Everyman, seemingly prepared for Mr Acres (13 Oct 1932).
6. Receipt signed by William Cowper for £7 concerning two Orders, related to an Act for the raising of rates and duties of excise to enable carrying on a vigorous war against France (17 Jul 1706).
7. Typed copy of the Abstract of the Penal Laws which appears in the Bank staff Rules and Orders booklet (c.19 century).
8. Manuscript note (tax assessment) headed Charles Edward Wilsonn, part of Middlesex, Westminster and Inns of Court. Appears to be a list of taxes or values of various possession of three individuals: Lord Buckingham, Lord Cambden and Lord Bathurst. Addressed as Receivers Office, At Bakers Coffee House, Exchange Alley, Cornhill. This appears to relate to Wilsonn's work as a Receiver on Duties on Windows (16 Mar 1804).
9. Printed statement 'of the prices of the first necessaries of life' comparing the years 1850-3 and 1864-5, showing that there had been an approximate increase of 12% in the cost of living between the two periods (c. 19 century).
10. Prospectus for the Chepstow, Forest of Dean and Gloucester Junction railway, to join the Birmingham, Cheltenham, Oxford and London direct railway, including map of proposed railway line (1845).
11. Typed proclamation of George III offering a pardon to smugglers who are prepared to serve in the Royal Navy or to find substitutes for their service (3 May 1782).
12. Typed proclamation of George V notifying that British subjects who contribute to a loan raised on behalf of the German Emperor or contracting with the German government will be guilty of high treason (5 Aug 1914).
13. Another copy of the George V proclamation (5 Aug 1914).
14. Typed proclamation of George V for extending the postponement of payments allowed to be made by the proclamation of the 2 Aug 1914, to certain other payments (6 Aug 1914).
