Mortgage Lenders and Administrators Statistics - 2016 Q2

​The Mortgage Lenders and Administrators Return (MLAR) is a quarterly statistical release aggregated from data on mortgage lending activities provided by around 340 regulated mortgage lenders and administrators.

  • The overall value of the residential loan amounts outstanding in Q2 2016 was £1,317.3 billion, an increase of 1.0% compared with Q1 2016 and an increase of 3.6% over the past four quarters.
  • Amounts outstanding on regulated loans were £1,041.5 billion, constituting 79.1% of the total in Q2 2016. This proportion has remained constant since Q4 2013. Non-regulated loans increased by £3.2 billion compared with Q1 2016 and by £9.0 billion compared with Q2 2015, to a level of £275.8 billion in Q2 2016.
  • The value of securitised amounts outstanding decreased to £76.4 billion in Q2 2016, a decrease of 7.0% compared to Q1 2016. Unsecuritised amounts outstanding increased by 1.5% from Q1 2016 to £1,241.0 billion in Q2 2016. Thus, the amounts outstanding of securitised balances as a proportion of the total decreased to 5.8%.
