We’re open late every third Thursday of the month, including until 8pm on Thursday 21 July. This month, our Museum Late focuses on our exhibition, Slavery & the Bank, which explores how the wealth created through transatlantic slavery shaped the development of Britain.
The museum is free with no need to book ahead.

Join our curators for a free, 20 minute tour of Slavery & the Bank. Tours will focus on the Bank of England’s connections to transatlantic slavery and the slave trade.

Talk: Humphry Morice: slave trader and embezzler of the Bank

Dr Matthew David Mitchell gives a talk focusing the life and career of Humphry Morice, the largest-volume British slave trader of the first half of the eighteenth century and former Director and Governor of the Bank of England.
