Sandra Batten

Sandra's research focuses on productivity growth, and in particular the role of technological innovation and international trade. She is also interested in the implications of climate change for the macro-economy. Her previous roles at the Bank of England include conjunctural analysis and policy advice to the MPC on supply side issues and investment.

Before joining the Bank, Sandra was a Government Economic Adviser, more recently in BEIS, leading on innovation analysis and the evaluation of business support programmes. Previously she led the crime modelling team at the Home Office, where she also promoted the use of economic evaluation in crime reduction policies. 

Sandra spent the previous two years working as Tutorial Fellow in Econometrics at the LSE, where she also completed a PhD on ‘The dynamics of growth: macroeconomic modelling and implications for employment’ and an MSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics.
