Biography

Fergus is a Senior Economist at the Bank of England and a PhD candidate at the University of Oxford. Fergus commenced his PhD in September 2015, five years after first joining the Bank.  During his time at the Bank he analysed threats to financial stability from capital markets, and more recently switched to modelling the role of household and corporate balance sheets in the monetary transmission mechanism. During his PhD, he aims to deepen his technical skills and combine them with practical experience to develop rigorous applied research in the fields of macroeconomics and monetary economics.
