DescriptionThe first item in the bundle, the examination of Job Cutler on 15 August 1832, indicates that two men (Thomas Dodsworth and William Hunter) were convicted of counterfeiting gold coin of the King of the Netherlands on the evidence of Cutler. In his examination, Cutler named two other men, [Costar] and Shaw, whom he had witnessed forging and selling Bank of England notes. The forgery was taking place in Birmingham. The rest of the bundle comprises correspondence with Cutler or regarding Cutler. Cutler corresponded with the Bank, investigating the forgery operation in Birmingham and providing details such as the names of people who uttered the forged notes. In addition, the bundle includes one letter mentioning the case of [Shearman].
