DescriptionWilliam Henshall offered to give information on Benjamin Baker and others involved in dealing and circulating forged notes in Birmingham to avoid being taken in custody. Bundle includes letters addressed to Benjamin Baker that were intercepted at the post office, including coded letters asking for more forged notes. Others mentioned as involved in the forgery operation in Birmingham include Joseph Carter and Thomas Henshall, the brother of William Henshall. The bundle references a Mrs Baker apprehended at Lichfield for uttering a forged note and includes a letter she wrote to her husband from Lancaster castle; there is disagreement among correspondents in the bundle about whether she was the wife of Benjamin Baker.
