DescriptionBundle comprises papers, mainly correspondence, relating to William Ray, a cotton manufacturer from Stockport who was involved in the detection of forged notes. Ray wrote to the Bank asking to be compensated for his efforts. He names utterers of forged notes that he helped to detect and lists his expenses.
