DescriptionThese images document the rediscovery, during the rebuilding, of the coffin of former clerk William Jenkins, known as the Bank Giant thanks to his height of just over 6ft 7. Directors allowed his body to be buried in the Garden Court to protect it from bodysnatchers following his death in 1798.

All images have a caption under the image and a Bank of England copyright stamp and photographer's stamp on the verso.
