Title6% EXCHEQUER BONDS 1920 - ISSUED OCT 1916
Date9 Oct 1916 - 16 Feb 1920
Admin HistoryThe 6% Exchequer Bonds were issued on the 2nd Oct 1916; the issue closed on 30 Dec 1916. They were repayable at par on the 16 Feb 1920. These bonds were offered bearing an interest of 6% in the hope that this high rate would not only encourage a quick flow of subscriptions, but also deflect money from Treasury Bills to the longer dated security and attract foreign money. This issue ran concurrently with the 5% Exchequer Bonds 1921 for nearly three weeks. The issue received 152,837 applications and raised £161,000,475 in fourteen weeks.

Conversion into the 5% War Loan 1929-1947 (Series 20A29/5) and 4% War Loan 1929-1942 (Series 20A29/6), and into the 5 3/4% Exchequer bonds 1925 (20A29/12).
