| Admin History | At the time of cataloguing it was found that the land originally belonged to Henry Hastings, Earl of Huntingdon. His heirs sold the land to John Stowell, a royalist who lost his lands in the civil war. These lands were then sold following an Act of Parliament in 1653. Of the names mentioned in the deed, [Younge] has a connection to the Morice family, through the marriage of Walter [Yonge] and Gertrude Morice, the cousin of Humphrey Morice. A document of 1723 details the sale of the estate of Netherham, once belonging to John Stowell, by Humphrey Morice. |
