Issues for discussion at Committee meetings included the report of the Inter-Bank Research Organisation on the future of London as an International Financial Centre; the visit of Monsieur Simonet (Vice-President of the European Economic Community (EEC)) to London; liaison with the inland revenue; the Bank of England, the City of London and the EEC; City of London rents and telecommunications; the de-centralisation of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); the Watkinson Committee (the Company Affairs Committee set up by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI)); the possibility of posting a Bank employee to Brussels; the formation of the City/European Economic Community (EEC) Liaison Group; the City taxation Committee; the fringe banks; Lord Selsdon's appeal; the power crisis; the disclosure of information; and the Fair Trading Act. This file includes briefing notes on many of these issues.

This file also includes minutes of meetings of the City/EEC Liaison Group (established in 1973). It was intended that the City Liaison Committee would act as the senior City of London body covering both domestic and overseas interests of the City as a whole. The City/EEC Liaison Group would operate at a more technical level on specific EEC matters.
