Issues for discussion at Committee meetings included taxation (value added tax, indirect taxes on securities transactions, corporation tax and witholding tax); insurance (non-life and life insurance); merger control and regulation of take-overs and other capital market matters; harmonisation of company law; the co-ordination of banking legislation; and the consumer action programme.
