| Description | This file includes material regarding both the administration and meetings of the City/EEC Liaison Committee (agendas, minutes and associated correspondence). Issues for discussion at Committee meetings included the harmonisation of taxation (value-added tax, excise duties, tax on securities transactions, tax on insurance premiums, international tax evasion etc); harmonisation of insurance (non-life insurance, life assurance etc); merger control and the regulation of takeover bids; the harmonisation of company law; and the co-ordination of banking legislation.
