Admin HistoryThis subcommittee was formed in 1971 to keep the COIE informed of constitutional and other developments within the EEC which concern invisible exporters and to make representations on behalf of the Committee on Invisible Exports. The Sub Committee was later called the European Sub-Committee (1978-1988). It subsequently became the European Committee (1988-1992), which focussed on securing information on developments relevant to Britain's invisible exporters in the run-up to the 1992 introduction of the European single market. The Committee was also known as the Sub Committee on the Common Market (ca. 1974).
The Committee on Invisible Exports (COIE) was re-named the British Invisible Exports Council (BIEC) at the end of 1983.
DescriptionThe files in this series include minutes and correspondence, as well as papers about different topics discussed at the meetings. Topics covered include discussion of draft European Directives; discussion of developments affecting the European Community (EC); members joining and leaving the commitee; occasionally reports are included covering the work of the Committee over a certain period.
