| Description | From 1980 these records relate to the Registrar's Department. The Department is primarily concerned with the management of loans on behalf of HM Government (HMG). The Department also manages loans for other bodies such as Commonwealth governments and local authorities, as well as dealing with special operations, acting as an issuing house/paying agent etc. The box files contain mainly policy papers covering all aspects of management of the registers, but also contain papers on domestic policy, eg mechanisation, departmental arrangements during war years etc. Files formerly listed under items 721, 723-729 and 743 have been passed to Gilt-Edged Division.
