Admin HistoryThe South Sea Company continued to manage part of the National Debt until it was abolished in the 1850s. Following this, a susbstantial number of ledgers were transferred to the Bank. The books of the South Sea Company's Stock were not brought to the Bank and were assumed to have been destroyed (see note in 12A55/1 p.58).
