Admin History | In February 1942 F W R Laverack, then a Principal in the Cashier's Department (Exchange Control), was appointed Inspector of Offices and Branches. He was to investigate any activity of the Bank on the direction of the Governors and to report direct to them; and also, with the approval of the Governors, to undertake similar work at the request of Heads of Department. Before 1942 he had done similar investigations in his previous capacity. Laverack's status in 1942 was extra-departmental. An 'Inspector's Office' was created for him in February 1947; it, too, was extra-departmental. The Inspector and his Office produced reports on various offices between 1942 and 1957. These described the organisation of the work and the staffing, including early work assessments (for later assessments see E26). |
