| Admin History | Following the re-building of the Bank in early/mid twentieth century, the Bank purchased considerable quantities of antiques and furnishings for the Parlours and 'other private rooms'. The purchase of such furniture was usually made through an agent under the direction of the Chief of Establishments, whilst the purchase of pictures and silver plates went through the Secretary or Mr Giuseppi, with the Governor having the final say. To improve these acquisition processes a Fine Arts Committee was set up in 1944 to 'more regularly review' the options for fresh acquisitions of antique furniture, carpets, pictures, etc., and consider 'the best dispositions of objects already acquired'. |
