Admin HistoryThe Jenkins Committee was set up in November 1959 to review and report on the provisions and workings of the Companies Act 1948; the Prevention of Fraud (Investments) Act 1958, except in relation to industrial and provident societies and building societies; and the Registration of Business Names Act 1916. The chairman was Lord Jenkins, a Lord of Appeal. Among its members was G W H Richardson, a director of Schroders. The Committee reported in 1962 and thereafter the Government set up a working party to consider the report, with the object of introducing new legislation as soon as possible.
