| Description | This file consists of papers relating to measures raised and discussed by the Emergency Measures Sub-Committee of the Accepting Houses Committee, the Sub-Committee of London Clearing Banks on Foreign Exchange Control, the Discount Market War Emergency Sub-Committee and the Bank. Topics covered included the relocation of certain Bank functions and representatives of the discount market and accepting houses to Roehampton, the possible disappearance of the discount market, a directory of alternative accommodation reserved by each accepting and discount house, the length of any bank holiday on the outbreak of war, currency reserve centres, the safety of securities and the issue of transferable receipts, larger denomination treasury bills and their conversion to 'order' bills, the issue of duplicate bills, the Bank's acceptance of sole indemnities by houses for nominal endorsed bills destroyed, and loans against short bonds in the form of registered deed stock certificates.
