TitleDISCOUNT OFFICE FILE RELATING TO TREASURY BILL TENDERS: RANGE OF PRICES
DateMar 1956 - May 1962
DescriptionThis file contains weekly returns from the Dividend Pay and Loans Office to the Principal of the Discount Office reporting the results of the previous week's tenders for treasury bills. The statement showed the total amounts of tenders at each price per 100 together with the total amount of tenders accepted in whole or in part, the total amount rejected and the total amount tendered. Returns made in November and December each year showed results for 63-day bills as well as for 91-day bills. An additional return appeared from November 1956 setting out the tender for the week by each house and the price tendered in excess of the pro-rata price - invariably the same for each house. These two returns were amalgamated in March 1957, and the price tendered by the houses (if above the pro-rata price) substituted. These returns were separated in April 1962, and a pro-forma used listing all the houses. From November 1958 detailed reports of tenders and allotments for specified firms appear, and from May 1960 occasional lists of firms tendering at prices well in excess of the pro-rata price were included.
