Description | A bound scrap book containing press cuttings. Included are letters on the money market, and law reports involving individual banks, mainly the subject of winding up orders. There is extensive coverage of the retirement of H W Search in November 1908 after 16 years as Principal of the Discount Office (he succeeded Mr Drevar in 1892) and the appointment of his successor James T Child, with Catesby Paget as Deputy. It was in Search's time that the granting of loans to the market, previously the preserve of the Chief Cashier, was added to the function of discounting under the Principal of the Discount Office - this followed the 'withdrawal' of Frank May as Chief Cashier. |
