| Description | Potash deposits were said to have been discovered in China which the Chinese Government were willing to be worked in a joint venture in return for a loan. The Board of Trade and the Ministry of Munitions strongly favoured the scheme since Germany had then the virtual monopoly of Potash. The Bank thought little of the promoters of the Anglo-French China Corporation Ltd and the scheme appears to have been dropped. |
