TitleDISCOUNT OFFICE FILE RELATING TO EXPORT CREDITS: CREDITS COMMITTEE
DateSep 1946 - Nov 1962
DescriptionFollowing sight of Export Credit Guarantee Department (ECGD) figures and a statement apparently from the Acceptance Credit Office aggregating returns from banks of banking facilities granted to non-residents, Deputy Governor Cameron Fromanteel Cobbold suggested that a standing committee should be set up which would look at these figures (together with a British Bankers Association [BBA] analysis of advances) on a regular basis reporting anything of interest to the Governors. The Committee first met in March 1947. Following the appointment of Humphrey Charles Baskerville Mynors as executive director in 1949, the Principal of the Discount Office (Mr Bull) became ex officio chairman. The Committee met initially monthly, later quarterly and continued until October 1962 (its 86th meeting) when it was disbanded, its work thereafter falling in the ambit of the Committee on Overseas Figures.
