Admin History | This company appears to have been the brain-child of Leonard Ingrams, Managing Director of Continental Assets Realisation Trust Ltd, who suggested in 1949 the formation of a new company, Hanseatic Assets Trust Ltd, to deal specifically with claims arising out of the German standstill agreements. The idea, as originally expressed to the Bank and the Capital Issues Committee (CIC) was that banks should sell their claims for shares in the company. There proved to be tax difficulties, a more acceptable course being to transfer claims to the company which would act as trustee in the management of the realisation process. |
