Admin History | The agreements were devised for the gradual repayment of foreign credits to bankers in Belgium, France, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US). In 1931 the British portion of the total of £525m was £64.75m. By end-February 1939 the total had been reduced to some £65m, and the London portion to £34m. The 1939 Agreement was cancelled on the outbreak of World War Two in September 1939. |
