Admin History | In August 1935, despite the Anglo-Romanian Payments Agreement certain members of the AHC reported difficulties in obtaining interest and commission from Romanian debtors. The Bank's aid was sought by the AHC, and the Committee of British Short-Term Creditors of Romania was established - later to become a sub-committee of the Joint Committee of British Short-Term Creditors (a joint committee of the AHC and Committee of London Clearing Bankers [CLCB]). This committee's efforts led to a technical ancillary agreement relating to the Anglo-Romanian Payments Agreement, signed in May 1936, to which the joint committee and the National Bank of Romania were parties. Through the Anglo-Romanian clearing house set up under the ancillary agreement, monthly payments were made. The committee was dissolved in 1939, and the Romanian Creditors Committee formed to take over its functions. A committee was reinstated in 1952, and named the Romanian Short-Term Creditors Committee |
