| Activity | Educated at Eton and Trinity College, Oxford, Leigh-Pemberton served with the Grenadier Guards (1945 - 1948), and was called to the Bar in 1954. He was a director of National Westminster Bank from 1972 to 1983 and its Chairman from 1977. In 1983 Leigh-Pemberton became Governor of the Bank of England.
