| Activity | Siepmann was born in 1889 and educated at Rugby and New College, Oxford. He joined HM Treasury in 1912 and served in the Army between 1915 and 1919 after which he returned to the Treasury. He served at the Versailles Peace Conference and afterwards in India and Hungary. Siepmann joined the Bank in 1926 as an Adviser to the Governors, specialising in external finance but he also had a spell as Acting Chief of Overseas and Foreign Department from 1932 - 1935. He became an Executive Director in 1945. |
