Activity | Educated at Glasgow, Manchester, and Cornell Universities, Quinn was an economist at the African Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1964 until he joined the Bank in 1970. He had spells with the Economics Division (1970 - 1974) and the Chief Cashier's Department (1974 - 1977) before he was appointed Head of the Information Division in 1977. In this role, Quinn was the Bank's Chief Press Officer. In 1982 he became an Assistant Director, Banking Supervision, and was Head of Banking Supervision from 1986 to 1988. Quinn was made an Executive Director with responsibility for the Banking and Banking Supervision Departments in 1988. In 1995 he was Acting Deputy Governor. Quinn left the Bank in 1996. He has been Chairman of Celtic Football Club. |
