Activity | Educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and Christ Church, Oxford, Plenderleith joined the Bank in 1965. He was seconded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1972 - 1974, and was Governor's Private Secretary (GPS) to Gordon Richardson from 1976 until 1979. During the 1980s and 1990s Plenderleith was heavily involved with the gilt-edged market, as Head of the Gilt-Edged Division (1982 - 1990), Assistant Director (1986 - 1990), Associate Director (1990 - 1994). Plenderleith was an Executive Director of the Bank from 1994 to 2002, and was a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) from 1997 until 2002. After leaving the Bank he was Deputy Governor at the South African Reserve Bank from 2003 to 2005. |
