Activity | Educated at St Paul's School, Percy Beale joined the Bank of England in 1924. After a period as Secretary of the Reserve Bank of India (1937 - 1939), he was an Adviser (1946 - 1948) and a Deputy Chief Cashier (1948 - 1949). Beale became Chief Cashier in 1949 but then left the Bank, at the age of 48, in 1955. He was not popular in the Bank, the City or the Treasury and he was encouraged to leave to head a new organisation, the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India. |
