Activity | Educated at Wellington and Peterhouse College, Cambridge, David Somerset joined the Bank in 1952. He was seconded to the International Monetary Fund between 1959 and 1962 as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director, and on his return to the Bank was Rowley Cromer's Governor's Private Secretary (GPS) (1962 - 1963). Somerset became a Deputy Chief Cashier in 1973 and in 1980 he was appointed Chief of Banking Department and Chief Cashier. He retired from the Bank in 1988. |
