Activity | Educated at Bradford Grammar School and University College, Oxford, Clay was Stanley Jevons Professor of Political Economy, Manchester (1922 - 1927) and Professor of Social Economics in the University of Manchester (1927 - 1930). Clay joined the Bank as Economic Adviser to Montagu Norman in 1930. He left the Bank in 1944 and became Warden of Nuffield College, Oxford. He wrote a biography of Norman which was published posthumously in 1957. |
