Activity | Keogh joined the Bank in 1937. He served with the Army during the Second World War and won a Military Cross. On his return to the Bank he worked in the Overseas Department before moving to the Cashier's Office. He was seconded to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) between 1954 and 1956. Keogh became Principal of the Discount Office in 1967. In this role he took the blame for the secondary banking crisis which broke in 1973. In the aftermath of the crisis the Bank's supervisory arrangements were overhauled and the Discount Office was abolished, with Keogh being given the post of Adviser to the Governors. He soon left the Bank and went to help set up the Singapore Monetary Authority, and then moved to the East Caribbean Currency Authority. |
