Activity | Cooke joined the Bank from Oxford in 1955. He was seconded to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and was the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (1961 - 1965). After serving as Secretary to City Panel on Takeovers and Mergers, and a spell with the Chief Cashier's, Cooke became an Adviser to the Governors in 1973. In 1976 he became Head of Banking Supervision, and he was an Associate Director from 1982 until 1988. |
