ActivityThe Financial Statistics Division was created in 1980 from the statistics area of the Economic Intelligence Department (EID) which had been responsible for the Bank's Statistical work since its creation in 1964.
Sub-divisions included: domestic; external; sector finance and general; mathematical techniques.
During the reorganisation of the Bank in 1994 it became the Monetary and Financial Statistics Division.

FSD's main function was to provide statistical information and advice relevant to the Bank's policy and supervisory needs and for the purpose of compiling the national income and financial accounts, avoiding duplication with the Central Statistical Office (CSO). Two statistical sub-divisions introduced in early 1990 - Financial Accounts Sub-Division, The Banking and Monetary Statistics Sub-Division.
Organagram 1991: Banking & monetary Statistics (which included Banks' Balance Sheets, International Banking, Public Sector Financing, and Monetary Aggregates), Financial Accounts Statistics (which included Sector Finance and Markets, and Balance of Payments), Mathematical Techniques & Computer Services (which included Mathematical Techniques, and Systems Control Centre), and Data Co-ordinator & Staff Manager (which included Divisional Administration, and Secretarial Units).
