ActivityThe Central Banking Information Department (CBID) was established at the time of the report of the Radcliffe Committee inquiry into the workings of monetary system. CBID started work in October 1959 and brought together the existing Overseas Department with an enhanced statistics, intelligence and research gathering capability. The CBID had a relatively short life and was disbanded in 1964 when the overseas side again became a separate function and a new department, Economic Intelligence Department (EID) was created to cover the economics and statistics side.
