ActivityAddis was born on 23 November 1861. He joined the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank in 1880 and was its London Manager from 1905 to 1921. He was a Director of the Bank of England from 1918 to 1932 (Committee of Treasury, 1919 to 1931). He served on the Cunliffe Committee, 1918-19; was Vice Chairman of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), 1930-32; and was also concerned at different times with Indian Currency, Brazil, Germany, Canadian Banking, and the State Bank of Morocco (see ADM 16/8). He was knighted in 1913 and created KCMG in 1921. He died on 14 December 1945.
