ActivityThe Agricultural Mortgage Corporation Ltd (AMC), formed under the provisions of the Agricultural Credits Act 1928, was incorporated on 12th November 1928 to provide funds for agriculture. The Bank of England and the clearing banks became shareholders (the Bank contributed £200,000 out of the original £650,000 capital and Sir Otto Niemeyer became a Director).

In June 1944, the share capital of the company was increased from £650,000 to £750,000.

The company was based at Stone House in Bishopsgate, London, EC2, until the 1960s, when it moved to Bucklesbury House, 3 Queen Victoria Street, London, EC4.

On 14th October 1981 the company became a public limited company and its name was changed to The Agricultural Mortgage Corporation PLC.
