Corporate NameFreshfields
Dates1743 -
ActivityThe close association between the Bank and the City law firm of Freshfields can be traced back to at least 1743 when Samuel Dodd was appointed 'Solicitor to the Bank'. From that date, the firm can trace its history to the present day and it has acted for the Bank for the entire period. The papers in these series were created and received by Freshfields in the course of their work for the Bank. They were stored in Freshfields own accommodation until 1909, when they were transferred to the Bank for storage in the newly completed Roehampton Record Office. They were heavily weeded in the 1980s before being added to the Archive.
