ActivityGovernor’s Day (or the Garden Party, as it was originally known) has been running as a regular event since 1920. Its origins lie in pre-WWI cricket matches held at Roehampton between Mr Douro Hall’s XI (William Douro Hall was a Director of the Bank since 1898) and a Bank of England XI. These began in 1912.
