Admin History | The first statement of account of the Reference Library begins on 12 December 1922. The first Librarian, K W Cotton, was appointed in November 1925; he died in February 1942. Miss G F Little, appointed Assistant Librarian in July 1931, took charge of the Library until G O Randle was appointed Librarian in 1946; Miss Little retired in 1954. Randle served as Librarian until 1974, when he was succeeded by T I Bell. For ease of administration, the Reference Library forms part of the Establishment Department, but control of the Library in all matters except staff rested with the Central Banking Information Department between 1959 and 1964, and with the Economic Intelligence Department between 1964 and 1980. |
