Title | FRESHFIELDS PAPERS RELATING TO CIVIL COURT ACTIONS: BANKING CASES (OTHER THAN FORGED BANK NOTES) - MURE VERSUS KAYE AND FRESHFIELD |
Date | 1810 - 1811 |
Description | Having been cleared of charges related to a forged dividend warrant and uttering a forged note, Mure sued for damages. The document 'Statement of Facts' describes in great detail the fraudulent use of forged dividend warrants by Richard Armitage and Charles Thomas (Bank clerks), for which they were hanged in 1811 on evidence from Robert Roberts (also mentioned in the document). Mure is alleged to have been involved in 'laundering' cash generated by the fraud, by passing notes on which serial numbers had been altered. |
