TitleGOVERNOR'S FILE: FOREIGN LOANS - GENERAL PAPERS
Date10 May 1922 - 25 Jun 1931
DescriptionThe file documents the administration of the control of foreign issues in London. It begins in mid story, with a modification in 1922 of the requirement that bulldog issues should have a minimum maturity of 20 years, the lifting of this requirement in 1924, and the removal of the embargo in 1925. From 1925 to 1929 issues by countries which had not settled their war debts continued to be controlled; in 1929 issuing houses were once again asked to exercise caution in regard to foreign lending; the remainder of the file is concerned with the applicability of this request to particular cases.
