Title | GOVERNOR'S FILE: ROMANIAN STABILISATION |
Date | 19 Nov 1926 - 31 May 1928 |
Description | The papers shed light on relationships with the Bank of France, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) and the Reichsbank. As an illustration of poor Bank/Foreign Office relations in 1928, this file contains at folio 84 a letter from Waley of HM Treasury (HMT) recording that HM Embassy in Bucharest had been making enquiries about the Bank's line from the Bank of France via the French Embassy in Bucharest. The Romanian Stabilisation negotiations were complicated by the fact that the Bank of France regarded Romania as within its sphere of influence. |
