Title | SECRETARY'S FILES: REVELSTOKE COMMITTEE |
Date | 21 Nov 1917 - 23 Jan 1918 |
Admin History | The Revelstoke Committee was appointed in 1917 'to consider whether and, if so, what changes were desirable in the direction and general working of the Bank'. It took evidence from all the Directors and the Senior officials of the Bank on such questions as to whether the chairs should be rotating or permanent appointments, the scope of the responsibilities of the Committee of Treasury and who should be eligible for appointment to the Court. |
Description | The file contains evidence, as well as draft and final versions of the Report, and illustrates the spectrum of opinion within the Court at the end of the Governorship of Walter Cunliffe, Baron Cunliffe. The evidence of Sir John Bradbury is relevant to the study of Bank/Treasury (HMT) relationships under Cunliffe. |
